Attractions To Take Your Children To Before They're a Teen.

*This is a collaborative post.

If a staycation looks like it is on the cards this year, then you do have plenty of choice or places to go and things to see, right here in the UK. From theme parks, to museums and adventure trails, there are plenty of different things for the whole family to see and enjoy. Here are just a few suggestions, as you make your plans for the big summer holidays.

Warner Brothers Studio Tour

The making of Harry Potter, based just outside of Watford, is a fun experience for all of the family. It helps if you’re Potter fans, but even if you’re not, as long as you’ve seen the films, it is an interesting day out to learn about how films are made and things like special effects and film costumes and makeup. A glass of butterbeer when you’re there is a must!

Theme Parks

We have more theme parks over here than you might first imagine, the main ones being Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, and Chessington World of Adventures. If you’ve got some younger children, then Legoland is an obvious choice too. While the theme parks can seem a little pricey, look out for plenty of special deals on things like cereal packets, as well as considering getting a Merlin annual pass.

Escape Room

From Brighton to Birmingham, there is an escape room in most cities across the country. They are great for older children, probably from age seven and up, and can be a fun and challenging evening or afternoon. You use your mind to solve puzzles, as well as physical agility to move from room to room to get out. Perfect for a homeschool day out too.

Eden Project

Cornwall is one of the best places to go for a UK staycation. And located in that area is the Eden project, often called one of the most innovative and inspiring projects in the UK. Not only is it fascinating for children of all ages, but it gets them looking into nature and being in the great outdoors. There is plenty of camping nearby too.

Castles

From Edinburgh, to Warwick, to Pembroke, there are so many stunning castles to witness in the country. Some are more intact than others, and offer shows, and amusements, much like Warwick Castle. But whichever you choose, it can mean a fun-filled day out as a family.

London

There is so much to see and do in London, that it can make a great little place for a trip. Without the need to drive, you can see and experience the history of the country in places like Tower Bridge, and even see the crown jewels. There are plenty of free museums to visit too, with the Natural History Museum, and the Science Museum, being some of the best in the world. Not to mention good food and plenty of child-friendly places to stay.

Have you got any places that you would recommend to add to the list? It would be great to hear what you think!
