My Dream Kitchen.

Oh how I love a good kitchen, with space and storage and room for everyone to pile in whilst I make hot cups of tea and the children play in the garden. I have so many dreams about our future home, the one we'll actually own one day in the (very) distant future. We always discuss what it would look like or how it would be laid out, and Warren always tells me the kitchen would be my domain, so I decided to have a go at imagining what my dream kitchen would entail.

When it comes to kitchen design, the beauty is always in the personalised detail. I know so many friends with beautiful kitchens, yet they wouldn't necessarily suit my needs. I really think you have to make the space work for you, your style and your needs. I actually really like the idea of carrying out kitchen design with a professional company, this way you can include all your wants and needs and you know the rest is in their hands.

It's all about the space...

A big part of my dream kitchen would focus on space. We have a fairly small kitchen right now, but the floor space isn't too small that you feel aggitated when there's more than two of you in it. I think floor space is key, and I'd love something big enough for parties and big family get togethers...

Colour!

I think colour is probably the hardest decision to make when it comes to a kitchen, because once it's decided you can't really change it. I love the idea of unusual coloured cupboards, but I think it would take me a while to decide which to stick with. Although, I do love a bit of green...

Appliances rock.

I think I'd really love to have appliances that work for us as a family. We've only ever had a dishwasher once or twice before, so this is definetly on the list! But so is an awesome cooker to cook up a feast all year round, not jsut for Christmas. I love the idea of a pretty huge fridge too, with one of those super cool ice dispensers! I say all this knowing full well I wouldn't have a washing machine or too many other appliances that would rarely be used but take up loads of space.

Drawers!

I had to put this one on the list. You can't have too many drawers in a kitchen in my opinion. I love lots of drawers so I can seperate all the bits and bobs we use without jamming them when you open them - I hate that! So yeah, drawers...

Light.

I feel that light and space are equally important. I can't stand how dark our kitchen is, so lots of natural light would be amazing and also really inspiring. I can imagine always wanting to entertain and always feeling good whilst cooking or spending time in a bright, light kitchen.

Red bricks make me *drool*...

There is something so beautiful about red bricks, don't you think?! I just think they make a place home, they give warmth and comfort, and they just look so good.

Family.

When it all comes together, the most important ingredient is the people who spend their time there with you. Family (and friends of course!) make the kitcen in my dreams come to life. With laughter, stories and tiem spent together in the focal point of the house.

I can't wait to one day make all these kitchen dreams come true, it would be so amazing to have a space that works for us as a family and creates a haven of culinary joy and togetherness.
