Our 2017 Winter Holiday to Bluestone.

When we were invited to review a midweek break at Bluestone National Park Resort this year we were beyond excited. We adored our weekend away last year so we couldn't wait to visit again and this time stay for longer and get up to even more exciting things!

I have so much to say about our trip so I've broken down the different elements for you to read in different posts. This post is more of a general review of the whole holiday, but below you'll find links to more detailed areas of Bluestone.

After a quick food shop on Monday afternoon we arrived at Bluestone and it was already looking pretty busy! Once we checked in (which is super easy to do and the staff are fab!) we headed to the car park and walked over to the Adventure Centre. We couldn't check-in until 4.30pm but you can use their facilities from 10am on the day of arrival.

Straight away Molly wanted a go at Adventure Golf, a game she's really warmed to over the past year. This doesn't cost extra either which is fab, much like the Lego area and large play frames, tunnels and slides. There is a bar serving food and drink upstairs, perfect for a quick bite to eat or a cheeky festive drink.

This place is just great for the kids to adventure and explore; George and Molly couldn't get enough of the place all week! Time flew and it was time to check out where we'd be living for the next five days...

We were given a Caldey Lodge, a spacious four bedroom property all on one level. The property includes a twin room and a double room, a picnic area outside and bike rack, television and DVD player, wet room, kitchen are with lots of fab appliances, wi-fi and some even have the option of interconnecting doors for families wishing to be next to one another.

Once we'd settled in it was time for a few board games and DVDs before bed. We also had to set up for Molly's birthday party the next day, and we were so happy when we found the very sweet card left for Molly by Bluestone; she loved it!

The next day was all about the birthday girl, with lots of fun, games, party food and cake! In the afternoon we went for a wander around and ended up in the Activity Centre again; it definitely became a firm favourite of places to go.

On our way we discovered a few interesting things...

That evening we had an early night ready for a fun-packed day on Wednesday. I'd booked us in for Kingdom of the Elves and the Panto, but on Tuesday we decided to book George in for archery also. We also wanted to wander around the lake as well as catch some of the live music in the evening so we had to be very organised indeed! You can find out more about Christmas at Bluestone here.

We also had an amazing meal at the Oak Tree... I can 100% recommend this place for a family meal out (it was our only one all week) and we were taken care of by Lucy. Lucy was incredibly sweet with the children, as well as accommodating for food-related requests. It was so nice to feel at home and comfortable whilst eating out as a family...

On Thursday we had a morning activity booked in: meeting Santa at his workshop! Molly and George had a great time and afterwards they had a little play in the Adventure Centre.

We had planned to go to the Blue Lagoon Thursday afternoon, but this was the day George had a nosebleed so we didn't end up going. He had another when we returned from Santa's workshop so we chilled out in the house watching a movie and making a Christmas wreath.

In the evening we headed over to the village to check out the light switch on and catch some singing elves; it was all very magical and Christmassy. After this we headed back to the house to play board games, watch videos and cuddle; we were all pretty pooped!

Checkout is at 10am so on Friday we were up and out early. You can checkout and still use the facilities until 4.30pm which is fantastic if you want to extend that holiday vibe!

We had an amazing time at Bluestone, it was full of long wintry walks, festive cheer and most importantly, we were there together as a family. And, as we all know, nothing beats that...

Disclosure: We received a break in exchange for review. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.
