I'm Dreaming of a Bluestone Christmas...

When it comes to Christmas time, a short break with my family has always been a dream of ours, something that would probably never really happen... This weekend however, Bluestone National Park Resort made all our dreams come true!

We arrived Friday evening to Christmas lights and friendly faces, key-cards and maps, and I've never felt so much excitement stirring up inside our bellies. The journey down was full of Christmas songs, laughter and chatter about what to expect.

It's super easy to check in (you get all the information you need at this point too) and once you've unloaded your car you park it in the long-stay car park and then it's time to really get into the Bluestone spirit. I love the eco-friendly aspect of their 'no cars on site' rule, the huge bonus being the wildlife we found when out and about.

When Molly spotted two bunnies one evening it was a huge highlight for us, something that probably wouldn't have happened had there been cars racing around. If you fancy a bit of luxury though, you can always hire a buggy for easy access around the park.

The house we were allocated was lovely; upside-down living in a Ramsay Lodge, with two bedrooms, both with en-suites. It felt very homely and it was a nice quiet haven for theose down-time moments. We were also provided with recycling bins and a handy starter pack which I thought was an absolutely lovely touch.

Bluestone's Christmasland is one of those things I've always heard about and only imagined in my mind, but as we explored the various areas of the park we were constantly in awe of the Christmas vibe, decorations and activities.

On the Friday evening we wandered through the village and cooed at all the beautiful decorations and quaint buildings.

During the daytime there's so much to do, from adventurous walks to crazy golf, we were spoilt for choice. Everyone was desperate to try out the Blue Lagoon water park, which is free for all guests. You'll be given tickets on arrival that allow you to get in and out via the turnstiles.

We had so much fun in the water, and there's literally something for everyone, from shallow areas to dark flume rides, we all found something to enjoy. I think our favourite part was the lazy river, it was so much fun and we were able to do it as a family, which is always a perfect scenario.

When it comes to indoor play, it doesn't get much better than the Adventure Centre. Slides, crazy golf, Lego and much more, we spent a long time here with George and Molly, and they really couldn't get enough of it!

When it comes to the Christmas spirit, I have saved the best part of our trip for last. The Kingdom of the Elves has been the most festive, fun and interactive event we've attended in a long time.

The actors were completely outstanding; they were wonderful with the children and with Molly not being too great in crowded places, they made her feel safe and encouraged her to join in.

The kids mission was simple: Find Rudolph. They were given a special cape and wristband each to keep and we were all offered red cheeks and noses, of course Warren and I said yes!

Moving from room to room the children had to solve the clues with the help of the wonderfully magical elves. Everyone was simply wonderful; accents, characterisation and interaction with the children (and adults!) were spot on. As for the rooms, they were beautifully decorated with props, lighting and lots of interactive elements. We didn't want to leave!

After the mission was complete we had our photograph taken and we bought both a copy of the picture and a photo magnet- I love it! We hardly ever get a photo with all four of us, so this was a great opportunity.

On Saturday evening we were lucky enough to catch some live music in the village, it felt so Christmassy and the kiddies had a good boogie whilst Warren and I relaxed. It was fabulous.

Bluestone is such a fantastic place to spend time with your family, there's loads to do and you can always retreat back to your abode if you just want to chill together. There's basically an option for every kind of mood you and your family could possibly have! As for Christmas, well we're completely covered from head to toe in Bluestone festive magic.

Bluestone are currently taking bookings for 2017, and my advice would be to book now to secure your place and save money at the same time, because there's nothing quite like a Bluestone Christmas…

Disclosure: We received a free break in exchange for review. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.
